While we definitely have some learning still to do about audio levels and conversions to mp3, the students have done an excellent job of creating radio plays. Listen to them and let us know what you think!
UPDATE: Just to let you know, in the 12 hours these files have been online, they have been downloaded 50 times already…..
Here is a link to a short podcast (5 minutes 48 seconds) that several gentlemen in Mrs. Baber’s class in Virginia recorded telling about International Teen Life.
A good introduction to the topic and clean well recorded audio.
Good job boys. Looking forward to hearing what else you have to say.

As you begin searching for sounds and music for the production of your International Teen Life video production, here is a list of sites that has music that are covered under a Creative Commons copyright license. This means that you can use the music as long as you give the artists credit in the credits of your show.
Most of this music you will of course not know. This means that you are going to have to listen to probably dozens of tracks searching for something that will match the mood you want your piece to have. Remember most of your videos will be in the five minute range. The entire video does not need to have background music, but large pieces of it will.
Here are the sites:
ccmixter
The Free Sound Project
Magnatune
Jamendo
The Wired CD
The Podshow Music Network

Looking for a “cool” new blog to watch?
The University of Alabama at Birmingham is participating in the research that is happening for the International Polar Year. As part of this research they have started a blog, a YouTube channel and a flickr set. All of this is coming from Antarctica, where researchers are staying and learning about climate change.

Like we are not busy enough participating in the International Teen Life project….
We are also making radio plays right now!
I’ve uploaded a new photoset on Flickr of pictures taken while you have been recording.

Finally.
Here is our intro video. We chose to do something a bit different from the other schools. Our short video has a bit of music we composed ourselves and a few voices from our classroom introducing our small community (about 1 000 people!) our school (K – 12 about 175 students) and our classroom. Let us know what you think!

Just to let everyone know, I uploaded a lot of the photos that you took for our introductory video for the international teen life project to Flickr. I simply made a set called JHK School and put them all in it.
Mrs. Baber is a quick, quick lady!
After our live Skype call on Monday with the kids in Virginia and the kids in Cartegena, she has posted an mp3 file that we can download and listen to, a recording of this call.
You can find it here to listen to.
Now that we’ve had our first Skype call, now that you have student bloggers from the other classes in your Bloglines account that you are reading regularly, it is time to move along.
On the wiki for this project, a few people have placed ideas for projects. What are you interested in doing? Look at the questions that have been placed on the wiki already. What do you want to do? Do have questions? What about ideas for a form of representation? If you have an idea, put it in the wiki and see what grows out of it. On the other hand, if you see something there you are interested in, place your name beside it and get in touch with the other student(s) to let them know you want to work together.
Time to be resposnsible for your learning, use the power of your network and see what we can grow out of all of these brains!
