Comment Starters

Today in class we talked about why we leave comments for other people and you came up with three main ideas:

1.) To let them know they have an audience.
2.) To encourage people to write
3.) To make people think more deeply about an issue.

We have worked with #1 and #2 often. It is time to move towards #3. With credit given to Anne Davis of the U.S., and Mrs.McLeay of Australia, here are some comment starters:

# This made me think about…….
# I wonder why…….
# Your writing made me form an opinion about…….
# This post is relevant because…….
# Your writing made me think that we should…….
# I wish I understood why…….
# This is important because…….
# Another thing to consider is…….
# I can relate to this…….
# This makes me think of…….
# I discovered…….
# I don’t understand…….
# I was reminded that…….
# I found myself wondering…….

Use these when starting your comments. It will help you think about something to write and help the people you are writing to think more deeply.

  1. Thanks for all the comments you have been making on our 9th graders’ blogs and please feel free to ask us any questions you may have about Brazil, our school and our way of life.

We are presently recording a number of podcasts, taking pictures and we would love to share them with you. Where have you been posting yours?

    Warm regards from Brazil,
